What is the job?
You will initially be working alongside the existing 3D designers to translate paper designs into 3D models and designs for customers. As you become more familiar with the system and products you will quickly progress to being responsible for full computer designs. Alongside this core responsibility you will be expected, like everyone, to get involved in a variety of administration or hands-on tasks.
Typical activities include:
Translating 2D paper-based designs into 3D models
Rendering designs with various finishes ·Outputting photo-realistic renders and accurate plans to feed into customer presentation, workshop and site operatives
Amending designs to meet customer requests and presenting them back to customers
Answering calls from customers and suppliers ·Pricing up of quotes, materials and ordering
What type of person are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has good knowledge of 3D design (CAD) tools – ideally Solid Edge, although training can be provided if you only have experience with Solidworks or similar software. It would also be an advantage to have experience of a rendering package, ideally Keyshot. You are most likely to be a Design graduate who has an interest in furniture, wood, cabinetry or kitchen/interior design. Just as important as your technical skills though will be your friendly, honest personality and real eye for quality.
The successful candidate for this role will:
Have a design degree (or similar)
Have an eye for detail, quality, and elegant design
Be a proficient user of 3D design (CAD) tools such as SolidWorks or ideally Solid Edge
Have experience of rendering software, ideally Keyshot
Be keen and willing to learn
Be a great team player, able to integrate and contribute to this close team
Share our commitment to high quality work
Be a pragmatic person who is able to find solutions to problems
Be physically fit and mobile
Be flexible to work additional hours at evenings or weekend during very busy periods
Be a self-starter who can see what needs to be done and take responsibility to get on with things
It would be a bonus if you had any of the following, but don’t be put off it not!
A degree in furniture design of similar
A driving licence
Experience of using Solid Edge
What are all the practical details?
Starting salary: £16,500 per annum (with potential for progression after 6 months)
Location: 3-5 Edgedale Rd, Sheffield S7 2BQ
Start date: 16/09/19
Length of internship: Six months, with a view to securing a permanent role
Video Interview: 04/09/19 – 08/09/19
Final Interview Date: 10/09/19 – 11/09/19
