This fabulous bespoke kitchen with island is bright and modern. Filling the new living kitchen extension with the spectacular garden behind as a lovely backdrop behind the large bifold doors.
Our clients were building an extension for their 17th century period home and wanted a high quality and modern kitchen that was built to last. They were keen for this house to be their forever home, so every detail of their renovation was built with this in mind.
The details: kitchen with island
Minimalism and functionality were key features of this design. It was important to the client that the kitchen functioned well, above everything else. The kitchen island has a specific drinks area for entertaining, that includes a wine fridge and a drinks fridge. Additionally, a Quooker boiling water tap in the sink eliminates the need for a kettle, keeping the lines of the kitchen clean.
Similarly, the in-house designed and made-to-order “Runda” doors feature cut out handles, echoing the theme of minimalism throughout the space. We also designed a bespoke bathroom for the clients with the same style handles. Check out the full bathroom profile here.
The slab doors conceal two integrated larders. One larder has pull out drawers hung with super-strong Blum drawer runners. Each storage drawer can handle a weight of 70kg, perfect for holding all your dry store food and more! The second larder is more traditional in design, with shelving and a bespoke spice rack on the inside door.
All the core kitchen cabinets are ultra-sustainable as they are made from a special eco board. We use a board made from timber that is 100% recycled, so no tree is felled in its production. We then have the board melamine-faced to give it an outer layer which makes it easier to clean and maintain.
The base of cabinets we build our kitchens on are all solid and built to last. They have an 18mm solid back panel and do not come flat packed. They are then glued and doweled and set straight in a press for reinforcement. Super strong, they stay square and are well made to form the basis of the rest of the kitchen built around them.
The new space is a fabulous kitchen with island which includes a host of storage, is super functional and looks stunning.
Our clients say:
“Sheffield Sustainable Kitchens were very professional, from the first talk with them about what we wanted from a kitchen, right through to the final following up of any problems (of which there were very few). We particularly liked their ‘green’ and sustainable approach to the materials used and the focus on the functionality of the final design. The installers worked extremely hard and made sure that the cupboards and appliances were perfectly in-line and functioned correctly, despite the problems of having to do the installation during Covid restrictions. Sheffield Sustainable Kitchens also designed and supplied our family bathroom and again we are extremely happy with the final result. I would have no hesitation in recommending them as an outstanding designer and supplier.”
