In Detail

This fabulous, large in frame kitchen with blue kitchen cabinets, combines a generous food prep area and a storage and seating area. A fabulous feature solid oak breakfast bar bridges the two zones, creating a vital social focal point for our client.

Creating a larger kitchen space

The room was previously three much smaller rooms. Our client wanted to knock together to create this light and airy living space.

In Frame kitchen

The new space with blue kitchen cabinets is a beautiful showcase for in-frame kitchen design. “In frame” is where the kitchen cabinet doors and drawers are sited within a frame constructed on the front of the base cabinet. This style stems from traditional furniture construction, lending an air of craftsmanship. The two tones of blue cabinetry heighten the room and make the kitchen feel larger. This is a clever way of maximising light in a space as well. For more tips on how to make your home feel brighter, view our advice post here.

Highly functional appliances

Whilst the kitchen is traditional in design, it boasts a host of mod cons, making it a super-modern kitchen. As well as a full-height fridge-freezer, there is also an under-counter fridge and freezer. The cooking appliances include a bank of wifi-enabled single ovens and a warming drawer. A remote control extractor fan with powerful LED lighting completes the cooking area.

Breakfast bar

The solid oak breakfast bar is truly the heart of the in frame kitchen and creates a focal point. We love our client’s choice to combine worktop materials in this kitchen, as it adds extra visual detail. To see another kitchen that combines solid timber with recycled glass click here. The bespoke breakfast bar also demarcates the space between the food prep area and the living space and TV nook on the other side. Our client loves how her family naturally gravitates to it, creating the hub of the home.
