Our clients wanted a homely galley kitchen with freestanding kitchen units and bags of character to fit the style of their Victorian villa. This freestanding oak kitchen does exactly that – it looks stunning and is a beautiful handmade kitchen.
Freestanding kitchen units
We designed the freestanding oak galley kitchen for them to meet their brief and bring a stylish and functional kitchen together.
The freestanding kitchen units are all made of solid oak with a matching oak worktop and cutlery tray. The open units and shelving allow easy access, both for ingredients as well as cooking pots.
We hand-made the freestanding units in our Sheffield workshop from locally-sourced oak. By choosing local timber, we were able to find out when and where the timber was felled, ensuring sustainable sourcing.
Sourcing wood locally is also a sustainable choice as it reduces transport miles and keeps money in the local economy. The timber brings a beautiful grain to the space and loads of character.
Bespoke Marble Block
Our clients were keen for us to incorporate a marble block within the freestanding kitchen design. The block was to within the worktop for rolling out pastry on to keep it cool. It also doubles as a chopping board. The marble insert sits flush inside the solid oak work surface.
Reusing Existing Appliances
The existing range-cooker was something our clients were keen to re-use in their new freestanding oak kitchen, so our design took account of this. As a freestanding appliance, it works well in the design.
The stainless steel sink is hard-wearing and durable and is a simple feature in the stripped-back design. The dishwasher is concealed behind a door in the unit below.
The result is a stunning freestanding oak kitchen that works brilliantly in the gallery space with bags of character. The freestanding kitchen units are all unique and handmade in our workshop from locally-sourced timber with a beautiful wood grain.
